Outrageous Ideas Track

Call for Papers

At ISWC2011 we celebrate the 10th anniversary of this conference. As part of the celebration we would like to look into future long-term challenges and opportunities in the "Outrageous Ideas" track in cooperation with the Computing Community Consortium (CCC). We solicit unconventional and innovative ideas that identify new research opportunities in this field. This track is designed to overcome the constraints of the traditional review process, and will serve as an incubator for innovative approaches, risky architectures and provocative ideas as a way to look at the next 10 years outside of current mainstream research in the field. Submissions will be judged on the extent to which they expand the possibilities and horizons of the field. After a reviewing procedure, runner-up papers will be selected for presentation at the conference. Based on PC and audience votes three winners will be finally selected for the prizes.

Submission of Abstracts and Papers

The Outrageous Track PC members will review the submissions. All submissions to this track must be in English, and no longer than 4 pages (both submission and final publication). Submissions must be in PDF formatted in the style of the Springer Publications format for Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). For details on the LNCS style, see Springer’s Author Instructions.

Authors of accepted papers will be required to provide semantic annotations for the abstract of their submission, which will be made available on the conference web site. Details will be provided at the time of acceptance.

Accepted papers will be distributed to conference attendees and also published online at the conference website. At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper there.

By September 5, 2011 submit per email (iswc2011outrageousideas(at)easychair(dot)org) your intention to submit a paper. Indicate the topic, tentative title and authors.
By September 23, 2011 submit your full paper via the Submission page.

Prizes

To encourage researchers to present truly visionary concepts, the CCC is offering prizes for up to 3 top papers in this special track: first prize $1000, second prize $750, and third prize $500, to be awarded as travel grants.
